MONUMENTS
  • RUŽOMBEROK
  • It is an industrial and cultural centre of lower Liptov region with a rich history. The centre of the town was saved from socialist building. It is well preserved and listed. There are some craftsman and middle-class houses from the 18th century in the original street structure, as well as, a few secular and religious monuments. Many exhibits which document the history of the town and the region can be seen in exposition in Liptov Museum.Other expositions, for example, paintings and exhibitions of Slovak photographs. In the Gallery of Ľudovít Fulla you can see the works and applied art of Ľudovít Fulla, one of the founders of modern Slovak painting art..
    In the town there are sport stadiums, ice-hockey stadium, football stadium, swimming pool, basketball hall, KULTÚRA cinema.
  • VLKOLÍNEC - 6km
  • Vlkolínec is a typical old village and it has been registered in the list of the World natural and cultural heritage UNESCO. The listed monumets of folk architecture represent a well preserved unit of original buildings. In the village there is a museum building called Roľnícky dom ( Agricultural museum) with the exposition of previous life. Vlkolínec ingratiate itself with the visitors by the atmosphere of Slovak country of last centuries.
  • ČERNOVÁ
  • The monuments of Černovská massacre from 1907 - the St. Mary´s Roman-Catholic church - Neo-Ghotic, the Memorial of Černovská massacre, the hoarstone and cemetery in Černová, birth house of Andrej Hlinka. These monuments remind us the fight of the Slovaks against Hungarian oppression.
  • HAVRÁNOK
  • The archeological area is located on the Úložisko hill near the Liptovská Mara water dam. There was found a settlement from the Irom Age. The buildings, dwellings, sacrifice places, old furnace and various objects were remodelled and now they form an open air museum. There are also reconstructions of celtic houses, a medieval church is being reconstructed at the moment. The visitation - 30 min.

  • MARTIN
  • The Museum of Slovak village Martin is the greatest natural exposition in Slovakia. There are almost 100 buildings of the Slovak folk architecture. In the area of the exposition the visitors can feel that they are on the visit in the past.
  • ZUBEREC - BRESTOVÁ 50 km
  • The Museum of Orava Village is rising in the beautiful surroundings of Brestová. There are wooden houses, agricultural and craftsman houses with sheds and yards, barns, animal houses, historical mill and sawmill.
  • PRIBYLINA 45 km
  • The Museum of Liptov Village Pribylina is a part of exposition of Liptov Museum in Ružomberok. It documents the Liptov folk architecture, there are periodical events showing Liptov traditions. A Ghotic St. Mary´s church from Liptovská Mara is the dominant of the area.
CASTLES AND MANSIONS
  • LIKAVKA 6km
  • The ruins of the Likava castle are rising on a high limestone. The castle origins are from the 12th century. You can get there on the tourist way from Ružomberok. The building is open to public during summer tourist season.
  • LIPTOV CASTLE 16 KM
  • The archeological natural exposition in the Liptov castle above the Kaľameny village. The Liptov region was called after Liptov old castle. To the ruins you can get on marked tourist trial from Kaľameny village. It is a part of exposition of Liptov Museum in Ružomberok. Free entrance
  • ORAVA CASTLE 25 km
  • Above the Oravský Podzámok village, Orava castle is rising. It used to be a fortress-castle. Several times a year, there are castle visitations at night light with many attractions. The castle also arranges the amateur theatre festival.
  • LIPTOVSKÝ HRÁDOK - CASTLE 40 KM
  • The ruins of a ghotic castle with a renaissance mansion is in the midle of a flat ground on a small hill, which was originally surrounded by a moat. In the past there used to be a lowland castle with a moat, now there is a small lake. The castle is used for recreation at the moment.

  • SVÄTÝ KRÍŽ About 14 km from Liptovský Mikuláš in the village of Svätý Kríž, there is a wooden articular evangelic church which belongs to the greatest wooden buildings in the central Europe with the capacity of unbelievable 6000 seats.

  • Western city Sikluv Mlyn 28 KM
  • Western City Sikluv Mlyn is the area of amusement, recreation and relaxation. It is situated in the centre of the Liptov tourist area, next to Liptovsky Mikulas. Together with Aquapark Tatralandia they create the largest entertainment and relaxation area in Slovakia.

    The area offers many facilities for the individuals, groups and companies.

    The area Western City offers more opportunities for various forms of entertainment. In summer you can try gold-washing, horse back riding, and travel by the Union Pacific train, etc. In winter during the night show you will try your skills on electric bull, country dance and your courage during the night frightful travel by the Pacific Ocean train. Mexico Hall is a child corner for little children with painting books and toys.

    The theme park Western City Šiklúv Mlýn is divided into 4 parts:
    Mexican- here we can find the Mexican reastaurant Mexico Hall, souvenirs, Bar u Hrobára
    Cowboy- where you cab find a sheriff, the Saloon Golden Nuget, , Coral- indoor riding school, Union Pacific train, snack bar Cowboy Station, or confectioner’s Sweet Sue.
    In Indian part you see a teepee with Indians, you will try the archery, souvenirs Traper will grab your attention, and snack bar Indian grill
    Amphiteater- a natural amphiteatre in which you can enjoy the wester performances 5 times a day, or concerts of music stars.
    You may happen to meet several animals while walking in the town. Most of them can be seen only in summer season- horses, dogs, birds of prey, a buffalo calf, he-goat with a girlfriend and a couple of piglets. You are entertained by a filly Odysea, dogs Dream and Kisa and lama Sancho-the favourite of audience in winter season. The town is guarded by theAlsatian female dog Brenda all year long
